I wanted the music to have an underlying energy, but still evoke a feeling of relaxation, peace and calm. I focused mainly on different flutes and recorders for melody and texture. I took the approach stretching the form to very long phrases, and using short motifs to make up the much longer phrases. About the Artist A Santa Monica native, composer Michael Benghiat has been steeped in music since childhood. Accomplished on such diverse instruments as the koto, sitar and dulcimer, Michael also collects and studies exotic instruments from all over the world.
